Where to Take Your ATV or UTV
Colorado is an ideal state for ATV and UTV enthusiasts. There are plenty of trails pushing through rugged terrain to conquer as well as plenty of vistas to enjoy. HardScrabble
If you are ready to conquer some ATV trails, you'll want to head over to HardScrabble. This property offers designated routes for ATV riders in the western recreation management zone, which is close to Gypsum. If you enjoy hiking, there are also a range of trails of varying difficulty levels. You can camp close outside the Spring Creek area. Ride all day long, spend the night, then repeat the next day!
There are three public roads that get you to this park. The route you will want to take depends on where you are coming from, but you will either be taking I-70 to the Gypsum exit or the Eagle exit. You'll only need to take a few turns before you reach the turnoff road.
Colorado State Park
This state park is an ATV riders dream come true! There are many miles of different routes that allow for ATVs and UTVs for you to explore. Experienced riders will love the challenge of Montgomery Pass Route which offers plenty of rocks, dips, and steep slopes. Hunters will love the Mendenhall Route which sets you up in ideal locations to hunt. There are plenty of routes for all interests and riding levels. Plus, this location is the moose viewing capital of Colorado. There are over 600 moose active in the park year round, which can make for some fun sight-seeing!
There are three main ways of getting there. From Denver, you will take I-70 to the Empire exit. From Fort Collins, you will take 287 to Highway 14. From Wyoming, you will go to Colorado using Highway 125.
