Where to Ride Your Motorcycle
Our great state of Colorado offers so many scenic routes and vistas that it can be a challenge to know where to take your motorcycle! We gathered up two of our favorite rides below. Remember you can always visit Peak Honda World for more information. We are located in Littleton, Colorado and proudly serve those in Boulder, Denver, and Fort Collins.
Mount Evans Scenic and Historic Byway
Imagine the vistas found along the highest paved road in North America (and the bragging rights that come along with touring this trail). When you cruise along the Mount Evans Road, you'll enjoy a height of 14,130 feet above sea level.
Start this journey at the quaint mining town of Idaho Springs. Then you will venture south on Highway 103 until you hit the entrance of the road, which is found at the junction of Highway 5. You'll get to enjoy a stunning view of glacier-cut valleys and jagged rocky peaks. Sometimes you may even spot mountain goats or bighorn sheep grazing or climbing up the slopes.
The route itself is a one-way journey that clocks in at 28 miles. It will take you about an hour to go all the way through and your end point will be Mount Evans. Keep in mind that part of the route does not have guardrails, so you will want to exercise caution as you travel on it.
Independence Pass
With this route, you will need to do some planning since it is only open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. That's due to the combination of high altitude and winter road conditions that make it too treacherous the other times of the year. The highest point of the road is at 12,095 feet. You'll soak up views of aspens, evergreens, and valleys with the backdrop of the nearby mountains. This route is also a one-way journey. Measuring in at 90 miles, it'll take you about two hours.
The northern entrance to this route is Glenwood Springs. Starting here you will travel down Highway 82 in a southeast direction towards Twin Lakes. It's iconic for having the largest improved hot springs in the world. Alongside the road, you'll find exits to the ever-busy ski towns Aspen and Snowmass if you want to stop to get a bite to eat. Before you reach the charming town of Basalt, you'll spot a breathtaking view of Mount Sopris off to the south.
